Changes

Ch-ch-ch-changes, turn and face the strange,
Ch-ch-ch-changes, Oh look out you Rock 'n rollers
Ch-ch-ch-changes, turn and face the strange
Ch-ch-ch-changes, pretty soon now you're gonna get a little older.
Time may change me, But i can't trace time. - David Bowie
Summer is waning and the days are getting shorter, but we sure get interesting skies. we have seen this a few times.
The storms have been really fascinating as the cooler air descends from the north over the warmer ground and water. Sometimes there are direct threats and sometimes the storms are out over the lake. When they happen at sunset we get some beautiful colors.
Then there are the thick clouds that bring changes in temperature and winds. But the sun burns a hole through the middle of it all.
Of course the tenacity of life shows up with regularity. The barn swallows have fledged their second batch of babies. Will they go for a third? Who knows, but they sure are cute little buggers.

  1. Wow! What a dynamic landscape. The rainbow prism is spectacular. And then the sublime beauty of the swallows. What a world we live in.

  4. Now I've got that tune in my head too, but it feels good. Those were good days. For some reason, I'm now going to Cape May NJ in my head, too. I'll be back after I get the beach sand out of my feet.

  6. Beautiful pics - really well-done, Jono!
Not my favorite Bowie song, though. Thanks for the earworm. ;)

  7. Beautiful photos! Did you get your macro lens btw?

I always feel a bit sad at this time of year. I love fall, but there's just something about all the changes going on that makes me a little melancholy. I think it doesn't help that I lost both my parents at this time of year, and most of the other sad and bad things in life have happened to me at this time of year. Residual feelings, I think. I'm a little apprehensive when the days get shorter!

Lucky you and your barn swallows. I love them. For some reason they've been boycotting our barn the last couple of years, although the Eastern Phoebes have been picking up the nesting slack!

  8. Mr. C, sometimes you momentarily forget all the bad crap in the world.

Donna, you have provided much enlightenment and entertainment for me, it's the least I could do.

PP, rainbows are harder to shoot than one would think.

Murr, you're an inspiration in so many ways.

CD, your dry country river shots are personal favorites.

Dawn, I get so many earworms that the only way to get rid of them is to pass them on.

MP, They are indeed. Hope to pick up your book soon unless I win one!

Knatolee, no, I didn't get it (too many shekels), but I did get a couple of "classics" at a garage sale yesterday. Yes, autumn is beautiful, but I also get apprehensive of the coming winter.
