Jacqueline

We recently lost a fellow blogger and friend, Jacqueline of Cranky Bar, to a severe stroke earlier this month. She had great taste in music and often showed me food porn, which as you know, gets me pretty hot and drooly in a hurry. I can be ready to eat at a moment's notice.

My mother, whose name was also Jacqueline, died shortly after my third birthday, so I'm not a real fan of death especially when a Jacqueline is involved.

While Jacqueline and her family had health issues, as we all seem to at this age, she never seemed to let it really get her down. She would note it and often joke about it, but it didn't seem to effect her joy in the little things of daily life. Her wonderful words, thoughts, photos, and observations of the world around her were unique and entertaining and I will miss her.

My friend Robyn is better at celebrating a life than I am. It just takes me longer to get there, but I do get there after the initial sadness passes. Check out her blog for a more upbeat read and links to others who are  also celebrating the life of Jacqueline. Did I say I will miss her?

  2. I'll miss her, too. And that world class food porn. I actually had to go eat after reading a few of her posts because the food looked so good that it just instantly made me hungry, and that never happens to me.

  4. Oh Jono. Virtual hugs. There's no "good" or "bad" way of remembering someone. And when it comes to Jacqueline, however we remember her, it's with love. I laughed too about the food porn. She'd want us to keep laughing, first and foremost.

    Thank you, friend.

  5. As you say, don't let it effect your joy in the little things of daily life. At least you had her in your life, that is special.

  8. I had a girlfriend called Jacqueline. Not the most stable person I've ever known.

  9. I remember Jacqueline as a talented writer. She didn't have it easy, yet she kept a cheerful outlook. I was shocked when I heard she'd had a stroke, just as she seemed to be making good changes in her life. We never know, do we?

  10. Sorry to hear this. I don't know if you knew Jacqueline in real life, but it definitely is a sign of our times that we become friends with people on the internet and then lose them...and it makes us so sad...just like with "real life" friends.

  16. Always very sad to lose a fellow blogger, but how wonderful that she will be remembered by so many people who actually have never met her in person!!! My hopes and thoughts are with her family.

  17. I'm sorry I never had the opportunity to "meet" Jacqueline. From what I've been reading, she found a spot in a lot of hearts, and an awful lot of bloggers are going to miss her, so she must have been something special. I'm truly sorry for your loss.

  19. I had been a blogging friend of Jacqueline since 2012...when I heard of her passing a couple of weeks ago, I was profoundly sad. She made the world a better place...
