Kendra, ...Nina, outhouses are a lifestyle changer!

Kendra, unfortunately the buckets were empty on the downhill trip. Kept me in shape, though!

Jena, I know I could pick up the language much better and I daydream of living på landet i Norge.Jonohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18170214396483091419noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5108355111065091083.post-88839394679015290882011-11-23T13:10:50.839-08:002011-11-23T13:10:50.839-08:00You really should be living in Norway! It is a documentary shot just 20 min. north of where we live about the dying old way of life in Norway (since Knut became a millionaire I guess!). Here's a link to the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qm-OVMxu50Q. I don't know if you understand any Norwegian, but the way these people talk to their animals is so endearing. They are really caring for them as well as living from them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5108355111065091083.post-374660636921924222011-11-22T15:13:29.570-08:002011-11-22T15:13:29.570-08:00great story! i bet you also carried those buckets ...great story! i bet you also carried those buckets of water both ways, uphill!! :)

strangely, i'm jealous. although i grew up on a farm and in a very old house, there were only a few days i can remember when we couldn't use the indoor plumbing. septic tank blew and some hurricanes, etc.

i wish we'd had an outhouse. too bad they don't have them in NYC, other than in museums, of course.Dr. Psychobabblehttp://www.doctorpsychobabble.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5108355111065091083.post-74204778949581113912011-11-21T16:38:27.030-08:002011-11-21T16:38:27.030-08:00It is amazing how these stories bring back memorie...It is amazing how these stories bring back memories. I remember visitng my great grandmother in Oklahoma in the 1950's. I went to the bathroom during the night and screamed everyone else awake because there was a huge beetle on the floor. '-)
When I was in junior high and high schoo we bought a cabin on Pinecrest Lake in CA. Today you can sell them for half a million dollars. Back then most of us had an outhouse. I still remember asking myself "do I really need to go right now?"

Indoor pumbing is probably the greatest invention with indoor laundry and cooking coming in seond.Nina Øhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05693399957556967059noreply@blogger.com
