However, my grandson came to visit overnight yesterday and brought most of his hairy dog with him in the form of loose hairs. Thank goodness he left the rest of the dog at home. But now I may have to break out the vacuum cleaner. I usually take my glasses off so I can't see the hairs, but this time I can see them easily even with my bare eyes! Saturday mornings typically are a 90-minute buzzing about, dusting, vacuuming, picking up, swishing and swiping session.

I need to do a major deep decluttering - it'll make the cleaning and daily upkeep easier. We've lived in this house for 10 years now (the longest I've lived anywhere except in the house where I was born)...it's amazing how stuff accumulates. Interestingly enough, though, I read a research article that talked about a de-cluttered and tidy environment actually reduces stress in a person. So, I did try to significantly de-clutter and tidy-up my environment.... and it really did seem to help me have less stress.

Cleaning is vastly different from de-cluttering and making orderliness. But, I have really tried to stick with de-cluttering. As you mention, sentimentaly is a difficult aspect though. I am extremely sentimental about things that bring back memories or *could poentially* be useful for memories of times with family and friends. So.... it is a continual struggle for me to de-clutter.

PipeTobacco PipeTobaccohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17746884792061867611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5108355111065091083.post-78638792815301645922018-01-08T09:13:58.990-08:002018-01-08T09:13:58.990-08:00B has a pillow with the phrase that sums up my phi...B has a pillow with the phrase that sums up my philosophy on the subject: Yes I cleaned. I'm bad to put off deep cleaning as well. Very bad. But I don't have a dozen cats like you do (give or take a couple), only two, so I really should be better.

Even as I get older, I find it hard to seriously declutter. I can do the regular things like household items and clothing, but the china and vases and special knickknacks we've had for forever are much harder.

The person who invents a truly self-cleaning litter box will have his fortune made.
